I make bespoke garments and wearable art – often using reclaimed fabrics for original and quirky results.
Original dress design made from discarded sleeves of mens shirts.
Ballgown made from reclaimed curtain. Headpiece from remnants of the fabric, formed into roses and a plume of pampas grass. Both original designs.
Dead Cute dress was made in response to the nature of sustainable fashion being an oxymoron. Main fabric is a reclaimed tablecloth, design is hand painted, lino-printed and appliquéd. Original design.
Jumper sewn (not knitted) from a remnant of knit fabric. Own design, appliquéd with graphic shapes cut from accidentally shrunk cashmere jumper, sewn on with gold metallic thread.
The original brief was for a hat and a cape of sorts fit for Merdyn, the main character from The Wizard in My Shed, the debut children’s book by Simon Farnaby. And it was needed tout de suite so that Simon could be filmed wearing it for a Blue Peter appearance the following week. Full blog post here.
